A joy of life
Sukha is a cosy store in the city centre of Amsterdam, located on Haarlemmerstraat, nearby the Westerkerk, Nukuhiva, Restored and Store Without A Home. This store is well known for her eco-friendly mindset and beautiful products. Sukha means ‘joy of life’ in Sanskrit, the language of the Buddhist monks in India and Nepal.
Sukha has an outspoken preference for handicraft, unique items and labels. Most products are created in small quantities some of which are produced under the Atelier Sukha label. Most of the items in store have a sustainable background, are Dutch designed or produced and are all carefully selected by Irene Mertens, founder of Sukha.
Besides the wonderful clothing by Humanoid, JUX and Ruby Tuesday, Sukha also sells boots from Koos and bags from Philomijn. Ecological handmade soaps and spa products from Swedish brand L:A Bruket have been added to the shop recently.
Parts of the interior are for sale too, such as framed butterflies, kitchenware, pillows, knitted blankets and huge rugs. Lovely funny poems and illustrations by Jaap Langenberg and Barbara van den Berg give a wonderful extra touch to the interior.
Visiting the Sukha store is a wonderful experience with one-off poems and doodles that put a smile on your face.
