Boattrip on the canals

Few people know that The Hague also has lovely canals and that a boat tour of these canals, De Ooievaart, is available. The canals of The Hague are almost 400 years old. They were created for the city's defences around 1612. You can see The Hague from a different perspective in an open boat. This tour takes you through old and new parts of The Hague, including under bridges and through tunnels. You will see a variety of beautiful buildings and special places, among them the Royal Stables and the Royal Gardens. You will also see the former houses of famous Dutch historical figures such as the 17th century artists Paulus Potter, Jan Steen and Jan van Goyen and the Jewish Pantheist Benedict (Baruch) Spinoza. The tour will be in English (not a native speaker) Other (daily) boat trips are in Dutch, but there will be translated booklets in English, German, French and Spanish available on board. The canal tour starts at the office at Bierkade 18b and takes approximately 1.5 hours.

The famous fado singer Maria de Fatima delivers her most personal theatrical concert yet. Maria gets intimate O Vento Mudou, roughly translated as 'the wind has turned' is easily the most intimate show in Maria de Fatima's career. She writes her own lyrics for new compositions as well as for songs based on well-known tunes. Besides performing her own work, she occasionally makes a foray into her favourite pop repertoire. And expect a thrilling rendition of Rodrigo's famous 'Concierto de Aranjuez'.
