White, white... WHITE!
The Netherlands Museum of Photography in Rotterdam has turned white. The exhibition 'WHITE! photography, art, design, fashion, film', as the name already gives away, covers various disciplines with work of national and international artists.
White stands for a fresh start, a blank page. This colour forms the point of departure for a multi-faceted exhibition, showing the relationship between photography as an art form and current social themes, as well as the interaction between the museum’s own collection, extraordinary works on loan, and unique works realised through commissions.
Three reasons why Arts Holland recommends this:
#1: This exhibition displays existing and new work by national and international established and promising artists. Holland is well presented by prominent names such as Irma Boom, Anton Corbijn, Charlotte Dumas, Marlene Dumas, Lidewij Edelkoort, Fleur Goedendorp, Iris van Herpen, Inez van Lamsweerde, Joep van Lieshout, Christien Meindertsma, Erwin Olaf, Bertjan Pot, Jaap Scheeren and Scheltens & Abbenes.

#2: White! is a multidiciplinary event, including documentary, portrait and landscape photography, as well as art, fashion, design, architecture, film, video. The exhibition focuses on the various significances of white, the beautiful and full of contrasts between light and dark, open and closed, and life and death. On top of that, the exhibition highlights the relationship between photography as an art form and current social themes, for example.

#3: This exhibition is part of a long-term programme entitled BLACK & WHITE. After 'White!', the Netherlands Museum of Photography will turn black. With this fascinating concept, the museum will continue to look beyond its own discpline and places photography in a broad, creative context.
'White!' shows the promising work of talented national and international artists. On top of that, it is not often that so many different disciplines of this calibre come together in an exhibition. A definite must-see!
